PMMaximum Ride and the other members of the Flock have barely recovered from their last arctic adventure, when they are confronted by the most frightening catastrophe yet. Millions of fish are dying off the coast of State Hawaii and someone-or something is destroying hundreds of ships. Unable to discover the cause, the government enlists the Flock to help them get to the bottom of the disaster before it is too late. While Max and her team are exploring the depths of the ocean, their every move is being carefully tracked by Mr. Chu-a criminal mastermind with his own plans for the Flock. Can they protect themselves from Mr. Chu''s army of mercenaries and save the ocean from utter destruction.
From the Publisher:
The fifth entry in the Maximum Ride series finds Max leading her flock of virtually indestructible part-human/part-bird hybrids in an attempt to rescue her human mother, kidnapped by Mr. Chu, a criminal mastermind with an elaborate plan to inflict worldwide ecological disaster, and one whom Max must team up with the U.S. Navy to defeat. Book available.
Annotation:
The fifth book in James Patterson's bestselling young adult series finds the Flock diving into the ocean off of Hawaii, struggling to find out why so many fish are dying and exactly how tons of ships are going down with them. At the same time, a dastardly villain by the name of Mr. Chu is seeing exactly how he can maneuver the Flock into his deadly grasp. Will Max be able to save the day once again, or is everyone doomed?
Author Bio
James Patterson
James Patterson grew up in Newburgh, New York, 50 miles north of New York City. Valedictorian of his class at the Christian Brothers school, St. Patrick's, in 1965, Patterson graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in English. He first entertained the idea of becoming a writer in 1971 when he worked as a college student in a mental institution, a job that afforded him abundant time to read. He came up with the idea for his first novel during that time, and five years later, after 26 rejection slips, his first effort, "The Thomas Berryman Number", appeared in bookstores. Since that time, Patterson has written numerous best-selling thrillers featuring the sensitive, modern-day hero Alex Cross, including "Kiss the Girls", which was made into a major motion picture starring Morgan Freeman.
