Learn more about Metallica-S and M with The Sf Symph:
|Did you hear the one about the rock band that wanted to play with a symphony? Metallica, never resting, never ceasing to innovate or amaze, returns with an extraordinary document of their concert with the san francisco symphony.|
Editor's NoteIn this rare and ground breaking performance, hugely popular heavy metal band Metallica is accompanied by the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra with Michael Kamen conducting. The pairing of the full and lush-sounding symphony with the guitar-driven virtuosity works well, giving way for a deeper, more subtle appreciation of Metallica's well-constructed, impressively written music. This music experiment will appeal to hard rock and classical music fans alike!

Customer Reviews of Metallica-S and M with The Sf Symph
THIS IS IT3/14/2004
Before S*M the world thought that metal had to stick to what it knew. They didn't expect this. Metallica takes things to the next level with this. I have loved Metallica as long as I can remember. To all other metal bands, this is a measuring stick. The way it blends in and out with the orchestra is amazing. Sound wise I would give it better if I could. But the greatest thing by far with this is the way James, Kirk, Jason, and Lars seem to just rule the stage. Look at their faces...these guys love what they do.
that dude that gave it 1 out of 5 is dumb12/17/2003
his is an amazibg cd and by the way the song is called no leaf clover not 4 leaf clover anyways this is an amzing grounbreaking cd and if you think otherwise then shuv it. like honestly you have to be a horrible critic to give this a bad review it is amazing and metallica is amazing james hetfield is amzing in this concert also. take it from a true metallica fan this dvd rocks! and i agree with the other guy that liped of that dumbass mark or whateva ho gave it a 1 out of 5 when he said screw you on behalf of all the REAL METALLICA FANS live to rock... rock or die!!!!!!!!
I've always been more into the music starting with And Justice For All. By the BLACK CD, James Hetfield's voice had changed - he honestly learned how to sing and it showed. The band could do it all - lyrics, rhythm, ballads, rock and metal, everything. That's not selling out. Metallica and the Symphony is the ultimate CD! You've got to have talent, creativity, to pull this off. Most Metal/Rock bands today could never carry this off. I love it and I definitely got the feel from watching the DVD that both groups had a blast making the video. It's a RUSH just listening to the music, a natural high! I could listen to this over and over without tiring of it. Now if you want to talk about disappointments, talk about St. Anger.
Mark C. doesn't know crap!!!5/27/2002
I am a devoted Tallica fan, Mark C. who ever the hell he is should have never reviewed this, he has no idea what he is talking about. Mark C. I hope you read this, this is for all Metallica fans, "SCREW YOU!"
Weak effort from Selloutica4/30/2002
I remember when Metallica was THE metal band. Now they have become the joke inside the industry. The concept of merging an orchestra with a metal band has been done before...and done better. It's almost sad to see what has become of this band. They chose the MTV path, alienated their fans (with trust-fund baby Lars squeezing every penny out of his music), and now resort to gimmick concerts. They have become the poseurs that they once mocked. For pure power metal, stick with bands like Pantera and Meshuggah, or dig out some old, pre-sellout Metallica. What's next, a Metallica musical?
One of the greatest concerts ever done!!!1/31/2000
This concert will take you by storm. Metallica teams up with the San Francisco Symphony to make and incredable concert. Two worlds collide giving you a whole new meaning to Heavy Metal Music and Classical music. Buckle your belts for this one and sit back and enjoy!!!
If you're a true fan, this one's for you.11/9/1999
This concert is truly awesome. Not many other heavy bands could pull this off. Metallica jams their heaviest songs (Master Of Puppets, Sad But True, etc) with The San Francisco Symphony. I know it sounds strange but it is really good. They also play a new song called 'Four Leaf Clover' which will definatly become a classic. If your one of those people that refuse to change with the times and think Metallica sold out, Don't bother to watch this but if your a true fan and can appreciate the combining of different cultures, your in for a treat. Way to go Metallica.
