Customer Reviews of Microsoft LifeCam HD-5001 Limited Edition Webcam
The webcam itself is very nice. The picture quality is decent as is the video itself, although the auto-focus is annoying, but disabling the auto focus turned out to be easy enough (though you have to do do it everytime you use the camera). I used this particular webcam with the Claymation Studio 3.0 Deluxe and the program recognized the camera right away. The little stand is very flexible and looks to be sturdy enough that it will last a long time. It fits nicely on the top of my computer and also stands alone. The software will not download to my computer despite several tries, and even going to the actual website and downloading updates, etc. However, when I plugged the camera into my computer, it downloaded the appropriate drivers and I was able to use the camera (just not the software). Anyway, decent camera and well worth it if you can get it for under $20. The video is using the Claymation 3.0 program with auto-focus enabled.
Very good product12/30/2011
Extremely good product. People have told about the auto focus being a problem; I dont disagree. But, it can be fixed and very easily. I am surprised people who mention about auto focus, did not find the solution. It's one of the properties of the webcam. You will need to install the software that comes with the webcam and then in the settings option on the webcam application you can uncheck the "Auto Focus" checkbox. That's it, simple as that. I would also like to thank the seller for the customer service they provided. Awesome to say the least!!! Immediately after I bought the product, the price tanked almost 40%. I contacted the seller, and although he was under no obligation to provide price protection, he gave me the refund.
