She''s back! It''s nighttime now and the day is winding down. Through warm, colorful illustrations, young ones see the little girl as she eats dinner, takes a bath, and says goodnight to her dolls. Her father reads her a bedtime story, but she''s not quite ready to go to sleep. She gets up for a glass of water, a hug, a reading session with her mom, and then, when both of her parents fall asleep, she''s ready for bed again. Children love routines and can easily see themselves in this simple, wordless story.
Australian author and illustrator Jan Ormerod graduated from the Western Australian Institute of Technology and was a college-level art teacher for several years. After the birth of her first child, she became interested in illustrating books for children. Ormerod's first picture book, SUNSHINE, appeared in 1981 and was named the Australian Picture Book of the Year, and also won a Kate Greenaway Medal Commendation. In addition to illustrating her own works, Jan Ormerod also illustrates the works of other authors such as Sarah Hayes and David Lloyd.
