The Xoom was also the talk to the town at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), being named the Best of Show.
And the features don’t stop there. The Motorola Xoom also offers a front-facing 2-megapixel camera that allows you to participate in video chats over Wi-Fi via Google Talk as well as a rear facing 5-megapixel that offers the ability to capture video in 720p HD. Other features include a 32 GB internal memory, the ability to expand the memory via an optional microSD cards (with future software upgrade), Bluetooth for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, access to personal and corporate e-mail, HD 1080p video playback, HDMI output for connecting to a compatible HDTV or monitor, Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking with Mobile Hotspot capabilities, and a 3250 mAh battery for up to 10 hours of Wi-Fi internet browsing.
Customer Reviews of Motorola XOOM Android Tablet (WiFi)
Really nice product in this range. After running all available system updates, I tried playing max payne on it, performance was excellent. The Mass effect game was beautiful but framerates were not stable, choppy at times. Didn't have time to test more games on it. The stock browser is really nice, didn't need to add dolphin browser. Great Price tablet
Fast, smooth, durable, slick.. need I say more?!
I'm really impressed with the Xoom. It isn't a quad-core tablet but it is very fast, no lag time on using it - overall very impressed.
your best choice7/6/2012
works right out of the box ,its super fast and it is really easy to work with, one thing tough, i cant find where to get the sd card drive upgrade.
Great price for a nice tablet6/22/2012
I ordered this for someone who doesn't know how to type. I figured android smartkeyboard pro would do the trick. It's a sharp looking tablet, solid build quality, a bit heavy. After running all available system updates, I tried playing max payne on it, performance was excellent. The Mass effect game was beautiful but framerates were not stable, choppy at times. Didn't have time to test more games on it. The stock browser is really nice, didn't need to add dolphin browser. Great Price tablet
Xooming right along6/16/2012
Bought this item for my wife. It was on sale at a great deal. She likes it, and so do my two youngest children. Works great and it updated to ICS right outta the box no problems no issues. Took the 32gb memory card I placed in it. Kinda jealous, I have a Toshiba Thrive.
Held off on the tablet until now, great price and a nifty device. Works as advertised.
Bought refurbished for [$]. Offered to updates twice and the first day I activated it, 2nd time to 4.0.4 ICS. Shows fingerprints. Geat battery life, and great display. My first Android device has made a great impression!
Great product at a great price. I always try to buy refurb devices.
Received this as an open box item, shipped promptly. Item still had factory wrapping and all accessories (including paperwork). Although the box was a bit beat up (labels, tape, etc.), the tablet was perfect. It functions perfectly and promptly updated to the latest Android operating system after setting up wireless access. The tablet works as well as any android unit I have tested. Overall, extremely satisfied with this purchase and seller.
Great graphics, nice display. Reat camera's front and rear. Great price compared to ipads
Very happy with this product. I was lucky enough to demo a Xoom for several weeks - convinced me the Xoom was the Tablet for me to purchase. I love the open apps world; there are so many and so many are free its almost unbelievable. I like everything about the unit's look, feel, operation, speed, and functionality. Can't say enough good about it. I shopped and demo-ed several Tablets - The Xoom is it for me. And having won 2011 Best in Show at the Consumer Electronic Show says a lot.
Works great. Screen is not as bright as iPad3 but it was half the cost and is an excellent value.
Exactly what I wanted5/26/2012
I have been using this for a week now and have zero complaints. Though the processor no longer matches current gen specs on comparable tablets I was unable to find any app that didnt run perfectly smooth. Great performance, Android 4.0.4 supported update path as of this post, great value. One of my favorite aspects is the microSD slot. The tablet comes with plenty of space, 32GB, but I also doubled it by adding a 32GB microSD card for cheap.
Fulfilled as advertised5/24/2012
Although advertised as refurbished, the Motorola Xoom WiFi tablet I ordered appears to be brand new. It is totally functional and is a pleasure to use.
This is my first high end purchase of a tablet, and it is fantastic! Fast and touch sensitive! For the money it cant be beat. Would recommend to anyone.
Enjoying the tablet and all it has to offer. Love the fact that a micro sd card can be used to expand the memory. Price was the best part!
I have not experimented too much with the product but I like it so far! Great features I updated it to Androids' Ice cream sandwich. I am looking forward to its great uses.
Refurbished Xoom WFi5/21/2012
Completely satisfied with my purchase of a refurbished Xoom WiFi. The item was in like new condition and the price was a steal. Unit came with sufficient battery charge to update it to Android ICS 4.04 out of the box. Experienced, a smooth and flawless update process. ICS makes the Xoom come alive. Other than being a tad heavy, not sure why this Tab got such mediocre reviews. Of course having purchased at less than half the original price, I'm probably a little biased now.
Motorola Xoom is amazing5/21/2012
I purchased the Xoom last week and have spent the week enjoying its amazing capabilities. I purchased it after careful comparison shopping, with the IPad 2 coming in second. The Android operating system is super fast, 32 gigs onboard and will be able to augment that with a 32-gig SD card. I'm very happy.
Great company, fast ship, cheap price5/21/2012
I ordered from them over the weekend, best price. moto zoom 1st gen 32 gig tab. Reconditioned. Just as described, excellent company, will be looking to more with them in the future. Item looks brand new!
On budget, plus it works!5/21/2012
Great value, great product. the guys at BUY.COM did a perfect job as always.
I bought two of the Xoom tablets, so far i am very pleased with the quality of these items and they automatically updated to Ice Cream Sandwich.
Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Incredible5/19/2012
I have an iPad II, Galaxy S II and PC's. I am the CEO of two companies and actively now use the smaller format devices on the road rather than a laptop. I purchased the Xoom on a whim at a refurbished price and I have to say I'm blown away. It is better than my iPad II in many ways. The size of the unit has much more utility. Using it in portrait mode is much easier to write long e-mails or documents and It is easier to hold in the thinner format. In landscape mode the screen is naturally more suited to widescreen applications. The program Documents Go go has a feature that allows me to see tracked changes in word documents. I love the utility of the thumb controls for browsing "labs". Of course there is no flash issues. It took about one half hour for all the upgrades to take place for the new operating system, but it was easy and seamless - over air. The Gmail interface is the best yet. Text size can be adjusted and the interface is very intuitive. I wrote this entire review using the native dictation software. Swipe beta is available for Ice Cream Sandwich as well and works fantastic. If you are a swipe lover, it is amazing to use on a tablet. I highly recommend this for anyone considering a tablet machine.
An OK tablet5/14/2012
it's easy to transfer files between computer and Xoom. Just plug in USB and it acts as a hard drive then you drag and drop the files you want.
Great first Generation Google Tablet5/12/2012
The Motorola Xoom is an excellent first generation google tablet. It has many of the same features as the ipad does plus a few more. The honeycomb operating system the tablet comes with works very well but you will be blown away when you get the upgrade to Android 4.0. this tablet works well for light browsing or game play but you need a bluetooth keyboard to get any serious work done.
Don't buy it!4/14/2012
I have to say I was really excited about this tablet, but it lasted only a few weeks. All the browsers close down after 2 minutes of use, I have done a reset of the tablet and with no apps, it still happens. I am also disappointed at Motorola for selecting certain versions for updates and having us waiting for a confirmation of when we should receive updates and if we will receive it or not, they do not care much about customers. Get the new Asus or an iPad, but done waste your money.
A Great Product from a Great Place2/6/2012
The motorola xoom is a great product. its fast and easy to use. it takes great photos. The xoom can stand up to the ipad great. but the reading is not the best its ok.! also when you have a live background it slows down a bit but good. If you dont like what you just heard i would buy the samsung tab. but if i had to buy a tablet again i would buy the motorola xoom!
I believe the Xoom hardware is slightly better than the Ipad2 (apart from the screen aspect ratio and the speakers), but the software is terribly lacking. The Xoom was released FAR too early, it's just not ready for primetime. But it has great potential. If I had to pick just one, I'd pick the Ipad2 at the moment - less hassle, apps for everything, better browsing experience, better support options. The Xoom needs less buggy software and more applications; it has great potential but it's not there yet.
If your looking for a tablet, consider the Xoom!8/4/2011
Hi everyone, To keep this short, I have really enjoyed my Motorola Xoom since 7/22/2011. (I have ordered another Xoom from Buy.com!) I have had zero issues with this tablet. The Xoom is fun, smooth, and just a great investment to go along with my PC's, MacBook Pro, Dell PDA, ToughBook, PC Laptop's, and of course my HTC Droid Incredible 1 & 2! FYI, I have not experienced any issues that others have claimed. As someone stated "Maybe I just got a good one"...LOL Buy it and enjoy, the Xoom is a Google project in the making and with that said; Google will continue to support this device. Thank you... What's great about it: Size, balance, high build quality & fit/finish, location of power button. What's not so great: The only thing that I would recommend is to purchase the Motorola profolio case and a JAMBOX.
Some people say its better than the iPad27/7/2011
I own both. I bought the iPad2 the day it came out... and I bought the Xoom just a couple days ago. The iPad2 is sexier on the outside for sure. In typical Apple fashion, it is wrapped in its packaging and hardware like Art. The Motorola Xoom packaging is lackluster and the visual aspects of the hardware side by side with the iPad leave a lot to be desired. HOWEVER, the Xoom's Google Android Honeycomb Operating System is far superior to the iPad2's iOS. So much so, that the iPad2 when you use it "feels" old and outdated next to the Xoom. Unlike other Android touch pads I have played with, the screen slides real smooth. Fortunately, I am in a position where I can own both. However, if you are trying to decide between which to buy, it largely depends on if you are a mac fan. If you are, then the iPad is the way to go. Regardless of how much better I tell you the Android Honeycomb Operating System is on this Xoom tablet, it will not matter. But, if you are not a mac fan and looking to choose the best device for the money, without question, at least right now, the best is the Xoom. Motorola got it right. Good job guys, finally something that competes and beats the iPad. However, work a little bit on the design of the outer shell... it could use a little more sexy like the iPad2.
Hardware over software...5/18/2011
The hardware that comprises the Xoom is very impressive as you know by now. What the Xoom lacks is tablet-specific application support, as did the iPad when it launched. Unless you have a specific need for the OS or are technophile, buying the Xoom now doesn't make a lot of sense. Until developers have time to wrap theirs heads around Honeycomb and the tablet format, the app landscape will be fairly sparse. For the casual user and/or first-time tablet owner, get a first gen iPad from Verizon or someplace that still sells them (bargain). If you have a tablet and are looking to upgrade the iPad2 is every bit as powerful as the Xoom (I have both because it's my job) and has many more tablet-specific apps; for now...
Not Ready for Primetime5/18/2011
While I'm all for competition for the iPad, the Xoom fails short. I've had an iPad 1 for 10 months, and it's the most revolutionary computing device I've ever owned. My brother bought an Xoom, against my advice. If you go to a Costco, you will see stacks of Xoom's with few buyers. No lines. There is a reason. Android 3.0 is clunky, obviously in late Beta stage, but not ready. Flash crashes. Very few decent Apps. I just got an iPad 2, which my brother now covets. He put the Xoom on Craigslist for $400. No takers yet. My iPad 1 sold in 1 hour for $499. Buy an iPad 2, it's cheaper, or wait 6+ months for decent competition...
I bought this the first morning it was available and I am as happy as I could be with it. It feels like a real tablet as opposed to my iPad which feels like a giant iPod. Wonderfully designed and if you are looking at either this or an iPad your choice should be easy.
