Author Bio
Laura Joffe Numeroff
Well known for her 1985 picture book IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE, Laura Joffe Numeroff is an author and illustrator of picture books. A reader from a young age, Numeroff has said she began drawing almost as soon as her hands were big enough to hold a crayon. Her first book, AMY FOR SHORT, was published in 1976 after she created it for her Writing and Illustrating for Children's Books class at the Pratt Institute--a class taught by author Barbara Bottner. In addition to her work as an author and illustrator, Numeroff has also been employed as a private investigator and a merry-go-round operator.
