Mozart:magic Flute (Die Zauberflote)

Editor's Note Though Mozart's last opera, DIE ZAUBERFLOTE, has been staged countless times since he wrote it back in the 18th century, it has rarely seen such universal acclaim as greeted the 1978 production in Salzburg. Directed by Jean-Pierre Ponelle and conducted by James Levine, this landmark production is considered a nearly perfect interpretation of Mozart's controversial work. The performers (including Edita Gruberova, Martti Talvela, and Christian Boesch) absolutely sparkle, as do the visually astounding costumes and sets.
