Harry Captures Leedy's Dreams & Passion
If you ever tried to "dig to China" or find buried treasure in your backyard (and happen to be a drummer), this book is for you. The author (Harry Cangany) walks you back in history, where Leedy walked, and with great passion tells the story about a guy who dreamed and produced the world's most respected percussion instruments in the world. Years ago, my young drummer son and I walked around the old Leedy manufacturing building looking for Leedy's "buried treasure", but left with only mudy shoes. 16-years later I gave this book to my professional drummer / educator son -- he couldn't put it down. The book methodically retraced our steps, filling in all the mysteries with Harry's great legwork. My marching days at Purdue with Leedy's Big Bass Drum now seems a lot more meaningful. Thanks Harry. (My Uncle Bill also thanks you, Purdue '38).
