Set in a bar in the meat-packing district of New York City, MR. SMITH GETS A HUSTLER is director Ian McCrudden's theatrical drama about a group of desperate male prostitutes (Alex Feldman, J.D. Williams). Managed by creepy Mr. Lapp (Benjamin Hendrickson), who adds little sunshine to their dreary days, their only salvation is the curious Mr. Smith (Larry Pine) who's more interested in conversation than sex.

"...Mr. Swan is an accomplished naturalistic writer, and the dialogue flows smoothly and persuasively under Mr. McCrudden's clean, unobtrusive direction. The performances are uniformly fine..." 06/21/2002 p.E24
