| "Music" returned Madonna to where she hadn't been since her pre-Ray of Light days -- the top of the charts. The song spent four weeks at number one, making it the third biggest hit, thus far, of her U.S. career. The maxi-single clocks in at over 73 minutes, filled to the brim with several excellent mixes. The first three mixes are geared strictly for the dance floor, with driving, swirling instrumentals and high-NRG beats destined to please legions of club mavens. Of note is the "Deep Dish Dot Com Remix," which is a majestic and sweeping epic unto itself, almost rivaling the original album version as the song's definitive mix. The Groove Armada mix and Young Collective Club Mix provide mellower, slower takes on the song, at times trippy, epic and sparse. From the more vicious sonic assaults of the first mixes to the laid back grooves of versions four and five, this single packs enough punch to please all sorts of electronic and dance music fans. Also included are convenient single edits of the aforementioned mixes. However, the definitive album version is not included. ~ Jose Promis | |
