Annotation:
Kevin Henkes has written and illustrated picture books about birds, bears, and a certain mouse named Lily, now turning his impressive talent towards imagining a very special garden. A little girl helps her mom with the garden, but imagines her own, more thrilling one. Her garden involves eatable chocolate bunnies, jellybeans, and even seashells, along with other creative bounty. Accompanied by bright, cheerful illustrations. Henkes is the author and illustrator of the Caldecott Medal-winning KITTEN'S FIRST FULL MOON.

Praise

"Even as the story elevates the wonders of nature into the realm of the fanciful, it reminds readers to appreciate everyday flowers and soil." 01/25/2010

"Imagination grows and spreads from the fertile pages of this book to the minds of young readers. Henkes's familiar illustration style invites children into a most unusual garden." 03/01/2010

"Kevin Henkes...has never created a more lyrically lovely picture book than MY GARDEN. It shows a new angle of genius to this already multitalented man....[H]e proves himself a poet for young readers in stunningly beautiful pictures and language." - Liz Rosenberg 06/13/2010
