Both smart and dumb, but the best thus far until N
This is a terrific game if you have the time to master every player on your team in terms of shot release and FT shooting. Shot stick timing does not matter much the closer in to the hoop you shoot, but I had an easy time with Brandon Bass mid range, but still have not hit a mid range shot with Luis Scola. Dwight Howard is a bad mid range shooter but I've hit a few from 12 to 15 feet, but cannot hit a shot outside the paint with Yao Ming, all because Yao's shot release is tougher to learn than Howard's. And don't get me started with Kevin Martin. Good thing, though, is you can change your player's shot release to someone else's. And there are sliders to adjust success rates for various things, like inside/outside shots, steal success, etc. I wish the game was smarter, but if you find it too hard or easy, it is adjustable, along with different AI settings. It will last you a long time before you get bored with it. There are some glitches, like the All Star break one, and DON'T use live intrateam practice, it will deactivate intentional fouling. If you don't want to spend $$$ on 2k12, or cannot wait until October, then get this game.
