Works great! great value. Very easy to use.
It's Great !!8/28/2010
Low price Great Value...I think It is. I almost don't like made in china. Because the cheaper price of products always had his reasons. But It has Easy to use and High performance. This price in the performance products find will not be easy.
I installed this on a Dell desktop system running Windows XP with a LinkSys router. There was a problem with the setup disk so I had to go online to download the drivers. After researching for a couple of minutes I downloaded the drivers and it was smooth sailing from there on. After two weeks of continuous use, I have no issues to report. Seller was great too! Fast and timely delivery.
Did not work!8/21/2010
The seller was contacted and they replied promptly. However, their solution didn't work. I did use the WZC to configure, but it still failed to pick up. They wanted me to send it back, but I had to pay the postage. Seems like this item is set up for Vista OS and the seller is simply reducing inventory. It's reception is extremely poor. It comes with absolutely no instruction. There is a CD with it that has a sound driver also (a generic driver CD?). I know there are a lot of satisfied customers, but I tried in four laptops and none of them picked up any significant signal from my router (50ft away). It did nothing even sitting by the router.
Best Of Its Price5/8/2010
I've used this LAN for 2 months and it hasnt faild me yet. Installling the driver for this device takes a bit of knowledge with exploring files but once the software is installed its easy to use and great for its price. Some antiviruses will not let the software instal so be sure to let it through.
does what it's supposed to do, great buy!4/28/2010
nothing fancy, no user manual really, but does what a wireless adapter does very well. good signal strength and everything. much better than my previous Trendnet PCI adapter which constantly malfunctions and interferes with pro sound card operation. Buy it and save lots of money!
My experience was Good to Very Good4/22/2010
Maybe it's because I just installed a Belkin adapter in my Laptop and it went smooth as could be, and resulted in 144Mbs operation. The installation of this unit in my desktop proved to be quite the challenge since I already have a wireless network set up among my three computers. Using the provided mini disc gave me poor results even though I installed it three different ways. The Auto setup kept selecting Authentication that showed the unit working, but not letting me connect to the internet. I finally just downloaded the driver alone, then using windows to manually attach to the internet. It works fine now, but it only shows a top of 54Mbs. That's better than the previous "g" network, but my other computers are running at 144Mps with my new "n" router. I'm not sure though if my 6 yr old desktop, running XP has a "bottleneck" in it?? I have upgraded memory, etc. so unless the USB is 1.1 it should run fast too. My Signal strength is just "good" and the "n" router should be excellent I think. Again, I can only compare the results to my other machines on the same wireless network and this is a "GOOD" unit with an excellent price.
This item worked like a champ with Windows 7. Out of the box, the OS picked it up and installed it automatically; I did not need to load any add'l drivers. Speed and reception are great. Note that it is a bit larger than it looks in the pictures. It sticks out 3-4" from the USB port. It is also a bit fat, so if you have two vertical USB ports that are stacked close together, you may not be able to use both of them with this installed. I was not able to with mine. Great item for the price.
What an amazing product for 1/4 of the cost of the mainstream companies! Great reception and nice included software, which is much better than what microsoft has to offer.
Good Value and Performance2/4/2010
The RT3070 single chip Wifi works well. Good Rx sensitivity. I found using the RALINK configuration utility allows a connection to the wireless network, but prevents the further connection to the internet (it probably disables a required Windows service). So I avoided using the RALINK utility to configure the radio. Instead during the install, choose "driver & utility", but in the next window choose WZC (not the RALINK utiltiy) to configure the radio. The RALINK utility installs, but only to monitor the radio (not control it). Its nice to be able to monitor signal strength in % or db. Use WZC (the usual Windows wireless configuration tool) to configure. Works very nice and easy to switch back to the old built-in laptop WiFi by disabling the RALINK, then click repair on the old WiFi icon in Network Connections.
