| Now, there's a kick in the self-confidence: Single working mom Christine Campbell has just learned that her ex is dating a much-younger woman with the same first name. To avoid any confusion, everyone calls one woman New Christine and the other Old Christine. You can guess which is which. Julia Louis-Dreyfus' hilarious and insightful performance in the title role won fans and earned her the 2006 Emmy as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Christine struggles to hold it together as she adjusts to her new nickname, confronts the meanie moms at her son's private school, jumps back in the dating pool with a post-bikini bod and gets laughs every misstep of the way. You go, old girl! This two disc collection includes all 13 episodes from The Complete First Season of The New Adventures of Old Christine! |
"With her comedic talent, [Louis-Dreyfus] manages to make this show hilarious. Shawn McKenzie, Entertain Your Brain!

Editor's Note
Stepping out of the shadow cast by her role as Elaine on TV's venerable SEINFELD, Julia Louis-Dreyfus breaks new ground in her portrayal of divorcee Christine Campbell in this quirky series. A gym owner and single mother, Christine's on surprisingly good terms with her husband after the split. But she suffers a blow when her ex-husband, Richard (Clark Gregg), starts dating a younger woman, also named Christine. Inspired to start living her life again, "Old Christine" jumps back into the singles world with hilariously mixed results. While Louis-Dreyfus's comic sensibility hasn't lost its edge, with plenty of oddball situations and standoffs with "meanie moms," she lends her character an added note of vulnerability that gives the show an emotional core that SEINFELD, for all its nine seasons, didn't have. An irreverent take on modern motherhood, this collection presents all 13 episodes of the show's debut season.
