Customer Reviews of New Trent iGeek NT99D 11200mAh Portable Dual USB Port External Battery Charger/Power Pack for Smartphones, Tablets and more
Finally a battery that keeps up!3/19/2012
Finally a battery that keeps up and looks pretty slick. Love my battery pack! The material that it is constructed out of is very sleek. It makes the battery seem very high grade, which after a few months of use I found to be true. The ability to use either a 1amp or 2amp port is great. I often charge my HTC Rezound and iPad 2 at the same time using this. I keep it in my backpack and if any of my devices are getting low I can fire this bad boy up and before you know it (2hrs) my phone will be charged. As for the iPad I can get a 60% charge from dead which if your an iPad 2 owner is plenty of extra time. I might add that I was using the device as it was charging so perhaps it would charge even more without user interaction during charging. My only complaint is that the cord provided seems a little flimsy, but that can be solved by just using your own cord. I didn't expect them to provide the charging cord anyway so I wasn't disapointed. Hope this helps.
Lives up to expectations2/29/2012
This product accomplished everything that it set out to do, and then some. I have never been so pleased with a personal charger before. It has saved me so much hassle between quick phone charges, to lengthy iPad boosts, and has yet to let me down. It has a relatively quick charge time, it's very convenient and portable, while on top of that I have dropped it several times proving its durability as well. My only quarrel with this product is a lack of 3rd party adapters such as for the Nintendo 3ds, ect. As a whole, it's a very high tier product, that met my essentially all of my needs.
Best bang for the buck2/24/2012
This is the best external battery you can find for the price and performance. The 9900mAH capacity allows me to keep my iPhone 4 and HP Touchpad charged all day at school and not worry about having to have an outlet nearby. Pros: Large capacity, small enough to carry anywhere, two USB ports, battery level indicator, quick charging, several attachments included. Cons: Included micro usb would not charge my HP Touchpad (Original manufacture's cable worked just fine)
IMP99D Portable Charger2/23/2012
As we all have devices that we constantly use that require USB charging daily, it is upsetting when we are caught off guard and a device runs out of battery at a time when we most need it. I carry the IMP99D around with me wherever I go, along with the chords that I need. It has saved me multiple times and I am almost lost without it. Not only is it great for throwing in your backpack, but it is also compact, and fits into your pocket very easily. It isn't uncommon to see me with a chord running from my left pocket to my right. The only problem that I have found with this product is that it has to be turned on to charge your devices, even when it is plugged in to the wall. When I have this device charging, and its LEDs are turned on, I still have to hold down the power button if I want to charge my iPad off of it. Other than that though, it is a great and durable product, that holds a charge even if I forget to charge it one, two or even three nights in a row.
Fantastic external battery2/22/2012
After spending hours looking at the different external batteries I finally decided on this one and am glad I did. Right from the get go New Trent receives amazing product reviews and I will continue that streak here. I was looking for a compact yet powerful external battery and this one takes the cake. PROS: -Compact size and unique simplistic design -Feel - its got a great rubberized feel -Durability -Ability to charge 2 of my gadgets at once -Capacity - its specs are not exaggerated -Ease of use Price CONS: -Lacks the ability to charge the unit via USB. For me this would be handy as sometimes outlets are at a premium. -Lacks a direct on/off switch. To turn it on and off you have to press and hold the power button and wait for flashing lights which occasionaly leaves me wondering if I've turned it on or off. Really I only have 2 minor cons, all in all this is a perfect external battery - so much so that I purchased 2!!
Power up all your battery hogging devices...2/21/2012
New Trent iGeek IMP99D Everyone seems to have lots of devices that need to be charged and recharged over the day with heavy use. My family has an iPad1, smartphones, Kindle Fire and Kindle1 that all need to be charged. I was looking for a high capacity external battery charger and found the New Trent IGeek IMP 99. Reviews were consistently good so ordered and was not disappointed. I chose this model as it had 2 USB charging ports so 2 devices can charge at once. The 2A port will charge an iPad while the other port will charge your phone or other device. Battery came charged out of the box with 4 bars and includes wall charger and adapter plugs for a variety of devices but not for iPad or iPhone. You will need to use your own charging cable for Apple devices. The IMP 99 feels solid and not slippery. Stands up or lays flat. Simple to use with press on/off switch and 4 lighted bars to indicate battery status. I was able to charge an original iPad from 60% and a Galaxy Nexus from 45% together in less than an hour and a half and only went down from 4 to 3 bars. I was able to fully recharge the Galaxy Nexus 3 more times before going to 1 bar and needing to recharge the IMP99. PROS: Small size, solid feel, not too heavy, 2 charging ports with one able to charge iPad CONS: Charging cable for IMP99 is a D/C port, wish it could charge with USB, need to carry charging cables with unit, wish it had Apple adapters included, wish it could charge laptops. Overall, works well, got a good value. Liked it so much, bought my kids and husband a unit as well.
NewTrent iGeek IMP99D 9900mAh External Battery Pac2/20/2012
I have had the device since Nov of 2011. I spent hours researching for the best device and here are pros and cons. In short, in comparison to similar products out there, you get a lot for your money. Pros: a) Inexpensive for the amount of power supplied. Other devices were well over $100 and had poor ratings. It can charge up iphone 4s multiple times without recharging the battery. b) Petite c) Dual USB allowing you to charge two devices at once. d) Sturdy e) autoshut off Cons: a) Can't tell what types of devices works at which port 5V/1A vs 5V/2A. b) Although the carrying sac is of quality. It can't fit everything and the accessories scratches the device. If they had a separate compartment for the accessories, it may work better.
So far I've only tested it on my Palm Pre. It works as advertised. I got it after a flight across the country where my battery died. I can easily take this battery along and have enough charge to keep my phone going for movie watching and music playing. There's no more chance of boring flights. Pros: I like the matte black (no fingerprints will show up) I like the rounded edges which make it look less brick-like Blue is a good color for the LED's Charges two devices at once. Large battery capacity Circuitry to prevent overcharging my electronics. Cons: The LED indicators look cool for a few seconds before they become annoyingly bright. I don't see the need for them to be so bright. I took a star off of ease of use because I found that things seemed to need to be plugged into each other in a certain order for it to work. I can't find anywhere where it says not to use USB Out 2 to charge a phone. Would using it damage the phone? I'm not certain one way or the other. I will use the device how it says to use it. A warning for how not to use it and why would be nice.
I was recommended to New Trent by a few friends after I had burned through a friend's Zagg Sparq THREE TIMES in one weekend in two hour increments... I knew that I had to look beyond Zagg as a way to keep my Sprint HTC EVO 4G charged while being out and about in Orlando! I ADORE My IGeek ! This is the most amazing little device I have ever had! One full charge of my IGeek will keep my phone straight charged for two and a half days. I was sick in bed with a bad tooth infection and I wasn't aware that I was not plugged into the wall with my phone but my IGeek and it was perfect for the whole time! I am a bus rider on a daily basis so I am always listening to Pandora to block out the bus noise and I have been known in a 45 minute commute to drain my battery to 50% in that time span. Now with my IGeek I am OK! I am an avid theme park visitor and I love and adore that I don't have to stop every few hours to find a plug to plug in my phone like I used to! I can now take pictures and videos with NO worries about killing my poor phone! I have recommended this to 3 friends so far and will continue to do so! Total Win for New Trent!
I regularly run out of power towards the end of the day on my Blackberry Bold. This external battery has been a real lifesaver in that it is small and light enough to carry with me in my bag and recharges my Bold immediately without having to be near a power outlet. It also works well with my iPad. Tremendous help while traveling since it can recharge the phone while in my car or sitting at the airport. The unit can hold multiple charges without having to be plugged in for a recharge. Highly recommended.
