In this parody of the popular Twilight series, gawky, vampire-obsessed Belle determines that computer nerd Edwart is not only her soul mate, but also a vampire, and sets out to find a way to get him to bite her so they can spend eternity together. *Author: Harvard Lampoon *Series Title: Vintage *Subtitle: A Parody *Publication Date: 2009/11/03 *Number of Pages: 154 *Binding Type: Paperback *Language: English *Depth: 0.25 *Width: 5.25 *Height: 8.00
From the Publisher:
About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe. Second, there was a vampire part of him-which I assumed was wildly out of his control-that wanted me dead. And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me.

And thus Belle Goose falls in love with the mysterious and sparkly Edwart Mullen in the Harvard Lampoon's hilarious send-up of Twilight.

Pale and klutzy, Belle arrives in Switchblade, Oregon looking for adventure, or at least an undead classmate. She soon discovers Edwart, a super-hot computer nerd with zero interest in girls. After witnessing a number of strange events-Edwart leaves his tater tots untouched at lunch! Edwart saves her from a flying snowball!-Belle has a dramatic revelation: Edwart is a vampire. But how can she convince Edwart to bite her and transform her into his eternal bride, especially when he seems to find girls so repulsive?

Complete with romance, danger, insufficient parental guardianship, creepy stalker-like behavior, and a vampire prom, Nightlight is the uproarious tale of a vampire-obsessed girl, looking for love in all the wrong places.
Riffing on both the narrative of the other-worldly popular Twilight series and the teenage girls (and not so teenage ladies) who obsess over these books, NIGHTLIGHT is a hilarious spoof perfect for parents who've chaperoned their daughters to the lusty spin-off films and readers who love Edward despite themselves. The ensemble of four Harvard University students who collaborated on this send-up shamelessly nail every detail--from the book's cover layout to the angsty story within.

Nightlight follows the misadventures of high school student Belle Goose who falls for Edwart Mullen, a classmate she believes to be a vampire. Nightlight opens with Belle Goose leaving Phoenix and moving to Oregon for the sake of her mother's relationship with street-hockey player Bill in what she describes as a "self-exiled, exile." Belle states "It's no big deal. I want to go. I want to leave all of my friends and the sunlight for a small, rainy town. Making you happy makes me happy." This is one of the first of many jabs at some of the blatant flaws in the original Twilight the full review
