Nikon Quality can't be beat!9/5/2006
I received this camera as a gift last month and love it. I have a Nikon 775 3.1 Megapixel and so getting a 6.2 megapixel camera was a nice upgrade. The larger LCD screen is a plus with my trifocals rather than the smaller screen on the 775 and viewing in bright sunlight is quite good and non-existant on the 775. This can also record video with sound and you can get 25 minutes on a 1GB SD card. I am upgrading to a 4GB card soon. The video is superb, the photos are crisp and vibrant, the camera has so many features to mention!! I do, however, find the menu cumbersome and very confusing if you are using the icon mode instead of text mode and paging up and down constantly to look for what you need. Read the manual from cover to cover first then choose what menu format you want. The camera is great for trips since you can pop it in your pocket and is very light weight. It is stylish and classy looking too! A real head-turner and looks more expensive than what it is. Another little shortcoming is battery life. Expect to chew up a lot of AA batteries if you shoot in maximum mode and if you use regular cheapie batteries. Mine lasted for 30 pictures in maximum mode and I had been able to shoot an additional 300. Buy rechargeables. They lasted for several days and I got to fill an SD card up with pictures with them. HINT: Always carry a spare pair with you so you don't miss a shot. I pack a little battery charger with me and have a pair of batteries in the camera, a spare in the bag, and a pair charging back at the hotel at all times. Other than that, it is a great little camera other than a few little quirks. Overall, both of my Nikon digital cams work fine with no problems whatsoever. You can rely on the Nikon name. This cam is great for the beginner or the seasoned photographer with all its special effects. I love it!
Nice camera, only a few SLIGHT annoyances8/23/2006
First, let me admit that I have not read the users manual, and it's very possible that the few minor issues I have are due to user error. The LCD on this camera is SHARP, and still works very well in low-light conditions, a problem I have experienced with previous digital cameras. I have had problems getting focused pictures when using the different flash options. Other than that, the pictures are sharp; the store time is a little long for the maximum quality setting, but worth it with the quality picture it provides
