Performance

I previously owned the D80 which is an excellent camera. I wanted to upgrade to the D90 for several reasons. Number one was the increase from 3 to 4.5 frames/sec. Next was the increased perfomance at high ISO since I like to shoot sports. Some of the other reasons I wanted to upgrade was the Live View and video recording capabilities. I also wanted a sensor that was capable of self cleaning. This camera did not disappoint me. I shot an indoor fencing tournament utilizing the increased frame rate and found the autofocus to be both fast and accurate. The lighting for the tournament was poor requiring me to shoot at ISO 2500 in order to stop the action. The images I obtained were spectacular with very little noise. I have only sampled the video and it seems to work fine, although the lenses will not autofocus during recording....that will probably be Nikon's next upgrade. Overall I am extremely pleased with this purchase and I highly recommend this camera

I used to own a D80 and needed an upgrade. The D90 is a great value for the results it produces. It is better in low light shooting and has a faster frames per second rate. This in not pro gear, it's either advanced consumer or prosumer. Either way, its a good value. Read More
