A Film by Shundo Ohkawa.
A typical Bar fight where three executives only wanted to stand up for themselves, transforms into an endless nightmare of mayhem. A young businessman and his friends find a whole new meaning for the expression "fighting back" when it dawns on them they have no idea who they are fighting. Yakuza? The police? Powerful businessmen?

Nobody is a heat seeking action thriller that will take you on a labyrinth of suspense and carnage without release until the very end.

"A nicely sinister nailbiter...  L.A. Weekly
"A triumph!  The New York Times
"An expertly crafted thriller...a paranoid street crime freakout!  The Village Voice

Editor's Note
An argument in a bar between six well dressed businessmen turns into a nightmare for one of the groups involved when the three offended parties, Taki, Nanbu, and Konishi, encounter one of their antagonists in an alley the next day. After beating him to a bloody pulp and leaving him for dead, the three begin receiving menacing phone calls, presumably from the men they fought with in the bar. Retaliation for the beating they dished out isn't far behind, as Konishi is stabbed in the stomach with a pair of scissors in a nightclub just a couple days later. Not long after that, Nanbu is riddled with arrows and then shot to death. This prompts the remaining friends to call in the cops, unsure and afraid of who they are dealing with now. A stylish, brutal, and thought provoking thriller, NOBODY paints a disturbing portrait of modern urban life.

Professional Reviews

Rec.Arts.Movies.Reviews 9 of 10
Nobody is a conventional action-thriller that works particularly well because of director Ohkawa's expertise in stylish filmmaking, with a noir undertone and a collision of effective, chic elements, including moody camerawork, a memorably creepy music score, and thrilling action setpieces. There is very little in the way of character development or multi-layered plotting, aside from an unsatisfactorily realized subplot in which Taki's girlfriend discovers he has cheated on her, but that doesn't matter too much, just as long as the film is able to sweep you up in its basic, simple storyline, which it does...The color scheme of the film only adds to the atmosphere, as the night scenes are lit in varying shades of blue and black, while the day scenes are painted as gloomy and rather pallid. Accordingly, the climax is appropriately grisly and somewhat unpredictable. - Dustin Putman
