The best value for the best series

by ssnydes1 on 2/12/2008

This has to be the best sitcom/drama ever; especially if you are from the Northwest and Alaska. My folks would tape this show and send it to me when I was stationed in Germany--it really brought me home. I was surprised how many episodes I had missed --- they are all here (with extras) and the quality is great! P.S. the case is pretty cool also. Read More

Editors Note
Note Quirky characters bring warmth to the small town of Cicely, Alaska, in this popular dramedy from the 1990s. Rob Morrow (QUIZ SHOW) stars as Dr. Joel Fleischman, a city dweller forced to leave Manhattan for the tiny northern hamlet. Country may clash with the city, but it provides heated chemistry between Joel and a sexy local pilot named Maggie (Janine Turner). Cicely is also home to radio DJ "Chris-in-the-morning" (John Corbett, SEX AND THE CITY), former astronaut and current millionaire Maurice J. Minnifield (Barry Corbin), and a number of other strangely lovable residents. Despite its remote location, Cicely is never boring, with the citizens hosting a Mosquito Festival and discovering the flesh-eating tendencies in their family trees. This set features all six seasons of the Emmy-winning series, from Joel's arrival in Cicely in the first episode, to his departure in season six, and the appearance of his replacement, played by Paul Provenza.

Reviews
ReviewSource The DVD Report
Review Nominated for 39 Emmys, including 4 nominations for Outstanding Drama Series in just six short seasons, Northern Exposure is one of the most unique television shows of its time. Half-drama, half-comedy, the show built itself a large cult following, experiencing widespread critical acclaim as well as viewer popularity. The brainchild of St. Elsewhere creators Joshua Brand and John Falsey, Northern Exposure premiered in July 1990 on CBS, lasting only five years (cancelled in July 1995). But the show's cutting edge wit and originality have earned it a place among the most hallowed and venerable of TV classics.
