Died after 2 months9/25/2011
The drive just died, no response at all. Will be sending it in under warranty. Should have listened to the reviews on this site and Newegg before buying this one. When it worked, it was fast. Almost achieved the declared speeds.
4 months and Dead - Horrible Customer Service!4/8/2011
I purchased an OCZ 120gb Vertex 2 drive in December 2010. Initially I was pleased with the fast boot times and respectable transfer rates, but sometimes the system would freeze for a couple seconds when it was attempting to access the disk. At the time, I attributed this to Windows or a driver issue of some kind. After some research I found other people with this drive experienced similar brief freezes. Unfortunately, after running this disk for four months in a lightly used system, the PC froze hard, I rebooted and I was greeted with a error message that no boot disk was found. After much hassle, I initially thought the motherboard had an issue, but after pulling the drive and hooking it up to eSATA/power and then USB-SATA/power adapters, I realized the drive was dead. I called technical support to receive a less than sympathetic help desk engineer who flatly told me to file an RMA online. The inefficient RMA system, unhelpful customer service personnel and a magnitude of frustration and hassle from OCZ has led me to purchase a Mushkin SSD which is faster and whose customer service has much higher reviews. I will be selling my OCZ SSD when the RMA finally comes in. I will not be purchasing any other OCZ products in the future.
It's fast - a great upgrade for a gaming laptop2/14/2011
I replaced the hard drive on my ASUS gaming laptop with this and it has been great. The boot time to login did not drop as much as I thought it might, but what is way better is the time to usable login. No more endless hard drive spinning after login. Sleep/resume is much faster and I don't have to wait for the drive to stop spinning before I jar the laptop around (no moving parts). App launch times are way better and C Cleaner is faster too as it accesses so many files which is just nice. I did timing tests on a lot of things, but overall the quickness of the machine is what you notice and appreciate.
