Awesome HD Color Printer3/28/2013
We love this printer! It's a single function printer, since we didn't need an all in one. I'd say it is perfect for a small business, home office, even a small work group. Was very easy to set up on the network, and we're sharing over a wireless router for 3 MAC users and a PC user. This printer is fast... 27 PPM in Color, and quiet. I like the ability of printing my shipping labels and the cardstock we're using for our mailings. We needed to make sure it would print well with inexpensive 20 lb. copy stock, and so far, so good (nice not having to buy expensive paper). My office workers use the Duplex (2 sided feature), so we're saving mony on overall paper costs. The starter cartridges had a little more than 50% yield, and that was based on printing spreadsheets, word documents, and some graphs and color presentations. We really love this printer!
This printer was very easy to set up and especially love the quality of the color prints it makes. I set it up via ethernet connection and it works perfectly with my other printers also..Great machine.
A nice printer12/6/2010
This is a very nice printer. Fast, quiet, excellent print quality. I had its predecessor the Oki 5800ldn for many years and was generally happy with it. In comparison, the C530dn is faster to warm up (i.e. first page out), faster to churn out pages, much quieter, and smaller and more compact. I wanted color and automatic duplexing so I looked also at HP printers, particularly the CP2025. It’s probably fine, although I read some negative comments about it, especially the lack of Windows 7 drivers, which the Oki has. The price of toner cartridges is an issue. The Oki’s appear to be quite expensive, but I was very happy to discover with the 5800ldn that "compatible" cartridges worked just fine and are much cheaper. The c530dn doesn't appear to have compatible cartridges yet, but I think they will be available in the future. For many users, the slightly cheaper Oki 330dn should be fine - it’s only slightly slower and less memory. But there a couple of points to note. The 530dn comes with starter cartridges for 2000 pages; the 330dn comes with starter cartridges for 1000 pages. Given the high price of the cartridges this negates much of the price difference. Also, the 530dn can take high-capacity (5000 page) cartridges, whereas the 330dn can take only 3000 page cartridges. Given the lower per-page cost of the high-capacity cartridges, this could result in cost-savings. Finally, Oki has the best customer support I have ever encountered. Fast, helpful phone response and overnight delivery of parts and replacements if needed. So the bottom line is, I'm very happy with the C530dn and would buy it again.
