The E-520’s industry-leading Image Stabilization technology, which is built into the camera body, compensates for movement so you can capture blur-free shots with any lens -- even at slow shutter speeds. Autofocus Live View brings subjects into sharp focus; it is the perfect tool for macro, portrait or even landscape shooting. This camera was built to produce amazing results for photo hobbyists and serious digital photographers alike.
Got this camera because it was reasonable cheap digital SLR for beginner. After few uses, I decide to get a Canon. Overall, this is not a bad camera, but Canon just much better. I wish I did not spend my money on this. I still think this camera is a great product but just not as good as Canon.
The 520 is hard to beat!7/30/2008
This is an excellent, lightweight DSLR which handles superbly. Build quality is very good and the camera is designed for ease of access to a multitude of controls. Image quality is first rate with great color saturation, and an almost film-like quality. Inclusion of the in-body image stabilizer makes it a very good platform for long focal length shots and in low light, and works with all lenses, while every feature of this camera has a value and works effectively. The E520 is a superbly thought-out camera where everything falls to hand almost perfectly, so it is a joy to use. Highly recommended!
e-520 meets expectations7/26/2008
My first DSLR. I haven't used an SLR camera for 20 years. I'm mostly a family shooter and have been prviously satisfied with 4 different digital point and shoot Olympus cameras. My first was the 360L, then I purchased the C-4000, 350UZ and finally the C-8080. I've been a long time Olympus fan dating back to the OM2 SLR. The e-520 fits right in, the menu's are similiar to other cameras from this manufacturer and the feel is also familiar. Shutter lag is non-existant. With the camera in the auto mode it takes beautiful photos. I am planning on doing some concert shooting in a couple of weeks so I'm brushing up on my manual set up skills, I have a bit to remember. So far the camera works beautifully in manual. Manual focus is simple to use with the adjustment ring on the lense body. I have every confidence that this camera will do exactly as I expect, and that is to take terrific shots under extreme conditions. I ordered this camera when it first arrived on Buy.com and I still pinch myself in disbelief that I was able to save so much money buying from Buy.com. No other seller on the web was with in $100 of the price I purchased it for. With my savings I'm planning on buying the 40-150 lense kit this afternoon also from Buy.com. This lense is $70 cheaper than anyone else on the web!!! Buy.com rocks and so does my new e-520. There is one slight problem with this camera, in low light the auto focus gets confused and sometimes refuses to take a picture. This only occurs when using both autofocus systems, I suspect that this can be corrected with a camera bios update? For now I just choose to turn off the 2nd auto focus system and the camera works wonderfully.
Stunning upgrade from E-5107/9/2008
I recently sold my E-510 and moved to the E-520. A great move, the picture quality is remarkable when teamed up with the Olympus 14-54mm midgrade lens. I highly recommend this camera, since it is often overlooked by others.
