I was looking for a decent quality camera that could get dunked once and a while. Although I have not tried this underwater yet, it looks like this was the right choice. You have to open the water proof door to charge or download pictures, but that make a lot of sense. The door has a decent lock on to prevent accidental opening in the water. Lots of extras in the kit.

Tested camera and liked the ease of use so far. Have not tried it underwater -snorkeling ( main reason for buying). Software takes a little getting used to and is downloaded direct from camera.
does the job4/11/2012
This is a good outdoor, go anywhere camera, but don't expect to be wowed by it's performance. My cell phone takes better indoor photos, but I wanted this for places I wouldn't be taking my phone or another camera. I certainly tested its shock proof abilities on a rough offroading expedition, and went a good 30ft deep to catch a shot of a lobster hiding in the coral reef. I'm happy I was able to preserve those memories.
