Professional Reviews

VideoHound's Golden Movie Retriever 8 of 10
[1] American diplomat's family adopts a young boy who always seems to be around when bizarre and inexplicable deaths occur. Of course, what else would you expect of Satan's son? The shock and gore prevelant in The Exorcist is replaced with more suspense and believable effects. Well-done horror film doesn't insult the viewer's intelligence.

Video Graveyard 8 of 10
[4] The antichrist returns in the form of a little girl when a couple adopts the original's daughter. Decent telefilm sequel is generally enjoyable apart from the political sub-plot. I personally liked the switch to a female anti-christ. Plus this one's got quite a mean-streak.

DVD Verdict 7 of 10
[2] Damien: Omen II starts off with him not aware of his destiny, but it rushes at him like an unholy freight train. William Holden (The Bridge on the River Kwai) and Lee Grant (Shampoo) play his adoptive parents (apparently Holden is Damien's uncle), while Lucas Donat turns in a heartbreaking performance as their son Mark. The action takes us to a bizarre military school led by Lance Henriksen of the Alien franchise who reveals Damien's true purpose to the boy (and who also may be one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, War). - Brett Cullum

Movie & Video Guide 7 of 10
[1] Effective but sensationalistic horror piece on the coming of the "anti-Christ," personified in young son of Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, Americans living in England. Discreet use of gore and a now-famous decapitation, for those who like that kind of thing. - Leonard Maltin

Chicago Sun-Times 8 of 10
[2006] "The Omen" is a faithful remake of the 1976 film, and that's a relief; it depends on characters and situations and doesn't go berserk with visuals. In an age of effects run wild, what would a "contemporary" remake look like? No doubt lightning would zap from little Damien's ears, and his mother would not merely topple from a balcony but spin down to the bowels of the Earth. - Roger Ebert
