Rugged, but requires superhuman tightening3/7/2009
I purchased these to mount two JBL L810 speakers. Here's the good and bad: Pros: a) Stainless steel arm, bolt & nut mean very rugged construction, b) farily attractive and unobtrusive. Con: Requires immense tightening torque to secure speaker in position. On one of the speakers, no matter what I did, I could not tighten the bolt enough to keep the speaker from drooping. I ended up drilling two holes in the clamp, tapped the holes to accommodate two machine screws, and inserted the screws so they provided two additional "grab" points to contact the ball-end of the rod. For lighter speakers, these are perhaps OK, but the little "points' on the clamp that mate with the ball are not sharp enough, and therefore don't grab the ball hard enough to secure the speaker in place. I made these work, but not without a LOT of work on my part.
Great Product, easy install4/20/2005
Simple, elegant, and sturdy. Comes with everything you need to install it pretty much anywhere. Instructions are fairly good, but be sure not to use the included drywall anchors if you are going into a stud. Instructions weren't too clear on that part. Once mounted, they are rock solid...
