In her fifth "New York Times"-bestselling novel, Bushnell traces the lives and loves of aspiring sophisticates in New York City, using the trendiest areas of Manhattan as the backdrop for the stories of five women living in the same swanky downtown apartment building.
From the Publisher:
Living in New York City's most elite apartment building, five women pursue relationships and personal dreams amid the social and sexual politics of New York's privileged, including comeback-seeking actress Schiffer Diamond, rich-husband-hunting Lola, and high-powered career woman Winnie. By the author of Sex and the City. 200,000 first printing. Reprint.Living in New York City's most elite apartment building, five women pursue relationships and personal dreams amid the social and sexual politics of New York's privileged, including comeback-seeking actress Schiffer Diamond, rich-husband-hunting Lola, and high-powered career woman Winnie. Annotation:
Cutting down on cab fares, Candace Bushnell--author of the wildly popular books SEX IN THE CITY and LIPSTICK JUNGLE--arranges accommodations for all her characters in the same building this time because, according to one of the glamorously wealthy residents of the eponymous residence, "[E]ven in Los Angeles, everyone knew the value of a pied-à-terre in Manhattan." The well-heeled artists (and one banker) well-connected enough to secure a spot at One Fifth Avenue have many of the same preoccupations as Bushnell's earlier characters--sex and success. Lucky for Carrie Bradshaw fans, Bushnell's style, wit, high society insider info, and flair for accessorizing haven't changed either.
Author Bio
Candace Bushnell
Candace Bushnell is the bestselling author of, most famously, SEX AND THE CITY, the popular compilation of her New York Observer column offering unabashed advice and insights on the life of successful singles in New York City. The story was picked up and became an award-winning HBO series and feature film starring Sarah Jessica Parker. Bushnell's other books include: FOUR BLONDES, TRADING UP, LIPSTICK JUNGLE, and ONE FIFTH AVENUE. She has also hosted radio and television talk shows. Born in Connecticut, Bushnell is a long-time resident of New York. The author, who had become a model for single women around the world, married New York City Ballet's Charles Askegard in 2002.

Praise

"What's compelling about ONE FIFTH AVENUE is that Bushnell offers plenty of what we want in a breezy read but also goes deeper, exploring what happens when the desire for the best in life doesn't add up but you can't stop pursuing it anyway." - Carol Wolper 09/25/2008

"[R]efreshing and highly entertaining novel..." - Carol Memmott 09/24/2008
