Yellowcard comes from Jacksonville, Florida where everyone first met each other at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. As soon as they became friends, Yellowcard was born, given a name and started playing music after school, which morphed into playing for school events. Those days allowed Yellowcard to learn how to write songs together. Local people noticed Yellowcard was getting better.

Two summers ago Yellowcard drove across America from Florida to California, to learn about touring and to meet Lobster Records. Yellowcard returned home to think about the future and face their first major band challenge when certain original members moved on and the remaining people made a decision that Yellowcard is the most important part of their lives.

Sean, Ben, Warren and LP asked another school friend, Ryan, to join their band. In the Spring of 2000 they sent a new demo to Lobster Records. Yellowcard had a deal with the label four weeks later. Before long, Yellowcard moved to California and recorded "One For The Kids", produced by Darian Rundall (Pennywise, Strung Out), which released in April 2001. They began the constant touring that continues to this day. Yellowcard shows are anchored with a tight rhythm section over which guitar melodies and violin support two soaring voices, the audience often singing their hearts out along with the band.

Their debut album, played with virtuosity, written with depth, recorded so cleanly by Darian Rundall. Sounds from Rock, Pop and Punk that make you say "more". This is the new Enhanced CD w/ 3 bonus videos and 1 bonus track.

Muze PNote Yellowcard's One for the Kids is a power punk album full of hooks and catchy choruses as strong as any of the syrupy sweet punk bands around southern California, except that Yellowcard is from Florida. Nevertheless, Yellowcard's take on punk is a bit different (but isn't that what punk is all about anyway?), as one of the major instruments incorporated on the album is the electric violin. It truly adds a whole new dynamic to the album, as it seems more like the Dave Matthews Band at some points rather than Lagwagon or New Found Glory. The guitar playing is furious and full of stops and starts, very reminiscent of early Slick Shoes material. And if all this weren't enough, there are a couple of acoustic tracks to boot. This all makes for a pleasant shot of diversity for the punk-pop style (if it can even be called that, considering the range of sound on the album) that seems to become more and more diluted of its power as the years go on. ~ Kurt Morris
