Annotation:
Learning about different cultures and the commonalities between them is the message of this beautifully illustrated picture book. From an unnamed country and unable to speak English, head scarf-clad Farah finds that she's not so out of place on a class field trip to a cider mill. Familiar things--animals, sounds, and friendship--help her along, as well as her addition of a green apple to the red-apple filled cider press, making a wonderful drink. With Ted Lewin's sparkling watercolors.

Praise
"Young readers will respond as much to Bunting's fine first-person narrative as to Lewin's double-page, photorealistic watercolors...."
06/01/2006
"Lewin's sunlit watercolors, full of space and shadow, are a lovely match for Bunting's simple but never simplistic story."
