From the Publisher:
Awakened from hibernation when an ill-fitting, gift-wrapped red wool cap falls nearby, Little Hedgehog passes along the present to Rabbit, but somehow ends up with it again by the end of the day. |
Annotation:
A red hat from Father Christmas hits the ground in front of Little Hedgehog with a "Thud!" The size is precisely right, but Little Hedgehog's bothersome quills, or "prickles," render it unsuitable for him, so he passes it along to Rabbit, who bequeaths it to Badger, who gives it to Fox. Fox finds Little Hedgehog asleep in the snow one evening and covers him with the hat, preventing him from freezing, before taking him to Rabbit, who's dining with Badger that night. Warm illustrations accompany the text.
