Powerful concepts presented in an interesting way
As with other recent books told in the style of a parable (e.g., Five Dysfunctions of a Team), the concepts that are presented in Our Iceberg is Melting are powerful and relevant to real world situations. The basic issue that is dealt with in the book is Change Management and how best to effect change when you are dealing with a content, "we don't have a problem" group. As you read the book, you will be able to attach specific people from your own organization to the various characters in the book. In the book you will see the visionary, the calming personality, the intellect, as well as the incessant naysayer, to name a few. Although it is not until the prologue where the authors get more direct in their presentation if issues, the subtle presentation of concepts throughout the book leave a lasting impression. This book is an easy read -- for me it was the equivalent of my one-way commuter train ride. My next train ride will be spent thinking about where I can use this book with my management teams to help elevate their game. My only negative is that it is difficult for me is the price compared to the size of book (150 pages, big type). However, I am glad I overcame my original resistance and bought it -- I found it to be quite compelling.
