The Band's Formation, the Chaos That Ensued Soon-after Their Rise to Megastardom.|The Tumultuous History, and Pre-history, of One of the Most Iconic Grunge Bands to Emerge from the Fertile Seattle Music Scene of the Late '80s.
Carved from over 1,200 hours of rarely and never-before-seen footage, plus 24 hours of recently shot interview and live footage, Pearl Jam Twenty is the definitive portrait of Pearl Jam as told by award-winning director and music journalist, Cameron Crowe.

"A must-see for Pearl Jam fans - and for folks keen on gleaning insights into the pressures that come with megastardom.  Steven Rea, Philadelphia Inquirer

Editor's Note
Cameron Crowe's affectionate documentary PEARL JAM TWENTY details the tumultuous history, and pre-history, of one of the most iconic grunge bands to emerge from the fertile Seattle music scene of the late '80s. Culled from hundreds of hours of private footage, as well as from extensive interviews with band members Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Mike McCreedy, and Stone Gossard, the movie begins by explaining the forces that turned Seattle into such a musical hotbed, and then discusses the death of Andy Wood, the lead singer of Mother Love Bone and how that tragedy led to the formation of Pearl Jam. The film covers the group's quick rise to the top of the rock world, the tensions that developed in the band, and their memorable attempts to battle Ticketmaster over their inflated prices. PEARL JAM TWENTY played at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.

Professional Reviews

Los Angeles Times
"[B]y the time PEARL JAM TWENTY is over we can't help but be impressed by the kind of personal and professional integrity that has kept the band honest and allowed them to endure and prosper. That, and the ability to make great rock music." 09/23/2011

Uncut
4 stars out of 5 -- "[I]t is gratifyingly long on exceptional live material. The early footage is especially astonishing." 11/01/2011

The A.V. Club 8 of 10
What makes Pearl Jam Twenty a little better than the average fan-friendly documentary is that Crowe focuses on the more significant parts of the Pearl Jam story: not how the group wrote "Alive," but how it's struggled with maintaining artistic credibility while selling millions. - Noel Murray
