Author Bio
Peter Spier
Peter Spier attended the Royal Academy of Art and later served in the Dutch navy. He began a career in publishing and in 1953 was transferred to the United States, where he worked as an illustrator of picture books. Spier became a U.S. citizen in 1958. In 1962, his illustrations for THE FOX WENT OUT ON A CHILLY NIGHT earned a Caldecott Honor. Spier won the 1978 Caldecott Medal for NOAH'S ARK, which he both wrote and illustrated.
