Annotation:
The author of the bestselling blockbuster SUFFER THE CHILDREN visits terror on the suburban landscape in this pulse-pounding thriller. High-school student Lindsay Marshall thinks her life is ruined when her parents decide to move from their charming Long Island town to Manhattan. But the crippling disappointment of being torn away from her friends and a potential top spot on the cheerleading squad vanish into insignificance when a psychotic stalker attends the realtor's sponsored open house at the Marshalls' and then returns a short time later to abduct Lindsay.
Author Bio
John Saul
After graduating from high school in 1959, John Saul went to Antioch College. Six years, four colleges, and at least three different majors later, he abandoned notions of higher education and decided that he would become a writer. He worked a series of temporary jobs while sending multiple manuscripts to various publishers until 1976, when an outline for a novel--his first flirtation with the horror genre--was met with approval at Dell Publishing. The resulting novel, SUFFER THE CHILDREN, one of the first paperbacks to be advertised on television, became an enormous bestseller, though the book was roundly disliked by critics, who were disturbed by its depictions of violence by and against children. This criticism of his work has followed him, as many of his books feature children and teenagers as main characters. Nevertheless, Saul's subsequent books--written on an average of one per year since 1977--have consistently been bestsellers. In addition to his novels, Saul has written for the stage, as well as lecturing at various writer conferences.

Praise

Publishers Weekly
"A creepy stalker story becomes a shrewd whodunit....Lindsay's attempts to escape and the criminal's master plan keep the tension high and the plot accelerating, making this solid suspense." 07/11/2005
