Product Overview

Revolution Studios' sexy thriller Perfect Stranger asks the question: How far would you go to keep a secret? When investigative reporter Rowena Price (Halle Berry) learns that her friend's murder might be connected to powerful ad executive Harrison Hill (Bruce Willis), she goes undercover with the help of her associate, Miles Hailey (Giovanni Ribisi). Posing as Katherine, a temp at Hill's agency, and Veronica, a girl Hill flirts with online, Rowena surrounds her prey from all sides, only to discover that she isn't the only one changing identities. The closer we get to learning the truth, the more we understand how far people will go to protect it.

Review Pink is the new black, 50 is the new 30 and, at the movies, confusion is the new suspense. The cause may be test screenings, moviemaking-by-committee or simple insecurity, but whatever the reason, Exhibit A is "Perfect Stranger," a disorienting cocktail of illogic and hysteria that requires an 11th-hour soliloquy just to explain what's happened. Sony/Revolution thriller should find an audience, thanks to Halle Berry, Bruce Willis and a frantically edited trailer...The pic looks good, and Antonio Pinto's music is affecting, but Todd Komarnicki's script thinks it's far smarter than it is -- the pseudo-profundity runs thick and rich, and what should be killer lines land like matzoh balls dropped off a 30-story building. "Everyone has secrets -- until they're found out" is Ro's contribution to Western thought. "Perfect Stranger" proves it's possible to be obvious and obscure at the same time.

Review Not since Rebecca DeMornay realized that she was stalking herself at the end of the laughable Never Talk to Strangers (1995) has a "babe in jeopardy" flick gone so crazily off the rails like Perfect Stranger. More silly than suspenseful, this sleekly produced, high gloss piece of trash isn't quite in the so-bad-it's-good category of schlock films, but it comes mighty close, thanks to a gonzo twist of an ending, which basically reduces everything that came before it to a red herring...As for Ms. Berry, she's stunning to behold and tears into her role with relish, to the point of overacting in the film's would-be "big" dramatic scenes, as if she's bound and determined to prove her Catwoman naysayers wrong. It's not that she's patently unbelievable as a hard-driving, borderline ruthless investigative reporter, at least in the glossy context of Komarnicki's screenplay. But she's ultimately defeated by her ill-conceived role, as is everyone else stuck in the quagmire that is Perfect Stranger.
