Editor's NoteMarch 21, 3085. Two astronauts land on a strange planet run by apes with human characteristics, including the very savagery that brought the decline of the human race. The astronauts arrived here by traveling through a time warp and after a short stay they realize they are actually stranded on their own planet, Earth, several years in the future. Roddy McDowall returns from the successful films as the star of this television series which had a very short life of 14 episodes. All are included in this collection of the underrated science fiction program.

Customer Reviews of Planet of the Apes-TV Series
A must have for planet of the apes fans...12/24/2008
An excellent DVD series of the planet of the apes TV series that followed the original movies. Entertaining. Very "original star trek" like with similar plots and story lines. The astronaut actors are good but the real gem of the series is Galen played by Roddy McDowell who started from the original movies.

I remembered the series from my childhood, so when I saw it was out on DVD, I had to buy it. Ok, so now I realize that as a young kid I didn't have the "eye" for quality entertainment. While the shows are harmless entertainment, they are a lot like the later movies, with weak makeup, sets, dialogue and PLOTS. Fun to watch! ...ONCE!
