Performance

Speed, Quality, Ease of Use, and Functions. This is one of the best film scanners I've ever used for color negative and b&w film. The quickscan feature can have a high quality scan done and saved or opened in photoshop in a couple of minutes. The intelligent scan coupled with SilverFast gives you endless scanning possibilities and features, but of course the more you use the longer the scans take (17 min.when I used IR and multi. exposure) . I rate this with the Nikon V at a fraction of the cost, yet with the capability of a higher resolution scan (7200 dpi). More than worth the money for us 35mm shooters or those wanting to digitize their film.

-T.J. quote

I really wanted some high quality scans to archive our family slides. I took a chance and bought this instead on spending much more on a "pro" slide scanner. The scans are great (I have only done slides so far) I tried the Silverfast software (included) and the Hamrick VueScan (3rd party) and really didn't like the results of the dust/scratch removal of either. My best results were from the Silverscan basic scan and using Photoshop dust and scratches filter.

Great scanner for a great price!

by R.K. on 6/24/2008

I bought this scanner to digitize over 10 years worth of 35mm negatives so I can share my old photos with family and friends. After reading lots of reviews, I settled on this Plustek 7500i with the LaserSoft SilverFast 6.5 AI Studio iSRD software. The intelligent scan coupled with SilverFast gives you a great scanning quality and the IR feature with digital scratch/dust removal works great (don't even think about getting a scanner without this feature, you will not be happy with the result unless you have pristine slides or negatives). One feature I would like to have is an auto-scan batch feature which would scan the negative and then automatically advance the slide by one to do the next, and so on. Overall a great scanner.
