Customer Reviews of PNY GeForce 6200 256MB DDR AGP 8x Video Card ( VGA DVI S-Video HDTV )
OK for the price8/24/2008
I installed this AGP card into my 2001 Gateway with an Intel Lexington P4 2.1 GHZ with 1 gig of ram. This replaced an nVidia G4 Ti4200 (AGP) that burned out. To be honest, I feel the G4 had much better color and performance over the 6200. I am not a high end gamer, nor do I do any intense graphics. However, my wife is into digital photography and says that the color, brightness, contrast, etc are not near as good as our original video card, nor does it come close to the graphics on our Gateway M405 laptop. Unfortunately, we are on a tight budget and are unable to upgrade to a higher performing AGP card, but for the money we spent for this one is not out of line at all. I did upgrade from the original 250 watt power supply to a 500 watt with a larger fan and silent. Made a small difference, but not sufficient. Over all, it is an average card at a great price, has decent color, great in all other aspects, but PNY/nVidia needs to incorporate more options in the control panel in order to perfect the color, etc a bit more to make it just right.
Legacy APG for widescreen8/12/2008
I purchased three of these cards to put into older motherboards without PCI-Express, only APG. These cards allow you to see the boot-up screen when using wider monitors (I use the Acer AL2216W) and to function properly. No problem. Highly recommend, if you don't want to go the route of new motherboards.
Installed easily the first time into an older computer. The PC is used strictily for gaming by my young son and the card performs very well for what it was intended to do. His 5 year old computer is now seeing framerates similar to my 2 year old computer.
works okay once you update the driver11/29/2007
the latest driver doesn't seem to work very well because i got a lot of jerky motions in HDTV playbacks. i have to lower my desktop resolution to get a smooth motion. however, i later found a beta driver from nvidia web site and it turns out that beta driver works much better than the latest "stable" driver. overall, it is a good product especially considering the price. 7 series is recommended if you want to build a pc with HD decoding and playback. but this one is still acceptable.
Good product for the money11/29/2007
DVI / VGA / TV Out / Video Card. Has Vista performance index 2. Easy to install. No conflicts with any software I’ve tried.
Very nice video card4/10/2007
The installation instructions are on the generic side. The manual could be improved. The card works great but gets hot. It has a heatsink. A cooling fan on it would help. Very good value and performs great.
I got this card to replace an ASUS 128meg card that died after the warranty had expired. It is my wifes computer and she is a diehard Everquest player and was going into withdrawls. I knew Buy.com from earlier purchases so I checked them out for a replacement card and choose this one based on price alone as I didn't want to put too much into an older computer which may be replace in a year. For 67 bucks and no shipping (gotta love that) I got a 256 meg card that was a breeze to install. The install consisted of removing the old card and plugging in this one and powering up the computer. Since I already had NVidia running it just went throught the found new hardware cycle and was smart enough to use the already installed drivers and was up and running in 15 minutes. Plus this guy has no noisy fan like the old card. My intention was to just get it running again but the wifey likes it better than the old card. Thanks for making me look good.
