The explosive action kicks off as FBI agent Ruth Warnecki hunts for Confederate gold in a West Virginia cave. She never expects to encounter the grisly murder that catapults her into a horrific plague of death, all centered on the prestigious Stanislaus School of Music. And at Hooter''s Motel in Maryland, FBI agents Savich and Carver are nearly killed while attempting to rescue a kidnap victim. Instead of a hostage, all they see is a glowing-red timer and then a catastrophic explosion. They are then led to Arlington National Cemetery, but the search for the kidnap victim is cut short when Savich takes a fateful call on his cell, as a mysterious voice threatens to kill him and his wife.Pitted against an insane killer and his psychotic teenage girlfriend, Savich and Sherlock find themselves fighting a hate-driven villain with a very long memory.Point Blank is a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat thriller, as exhilarating and terrifying as anything Catherine Coulter has ever written.
Annotation:
The 10th entry in the suspenseful and romantic FBI series takes on two separate cases. FBI agent Dillon Savich and his wife, agent Lacey Sherlock, pit themselves against a violent pair of kidnappers bent on revenging themselves on comedian Pinky Womack. Meanwhile, agent Ruth Warnecki falls in love with a small-town Virginia sheriff as the pair track down the murderer of a music student whose body was found deep inside a cave.
Author Bio
Catherine Coulter
Catherine Coulter graduated from Boston College with a master's degree in 19th-century European history. She first began writing romances after convincing herself that she could come up with something better than what was currently being published. While living in New York in 1978, she published her first novel with some help in plotting out the story from her physician husband. Since then she has gone on to write mostly Regency romances, many of them in the trilogy format she believes allows her to follow her character's lives more completely. Her first major best-seller, "Moonspun Magic" (1988), was the third installation in the Magic Trilogy and the first of a long string of popular best-sellers. In 1988 Coulter decided to take on the suspense thriller genre with "False Pretenses." Her subsequent suspense novels, "The Cove," "The Maze," "The Target," and "The Edge", were instant best-sellers. Coulter's hobbies include traveling, skiing, and reading.

Praise

"Coulter continues to prove more convincing describing virtue than vice, which means that sympathetic characters and happy endings take precedence over serious detective work." 7/11/2005
