Jazzy Death Metal
Two disks, two mostly different sounds. Disk 1 is about 25 minutes long, and is mostly straight-ahead semi-melodic death metal. Disk 2 is where things get interesting. While parts of the album are melodic death metal, it is interspersed with a nice combination of post-rock and Jazz, with mellow interludes, style changes, added instrumentation (piano, violins, vibraphone), while mostly using the same harsh yelling/screaming vocals (with the occasional melodic vocals). Their self-description of "ambient soundtrack doomrock" is pretty accurate. Different, but quite good. Similar to Ephel Duath & Kayo Dot, but more friendly. If you like death metal and want to expand your horizons, get this.
