| The surface of Adorama's ProJet Elite Velvet Smooth Paper is 100% cotton fiber. It is an acid-free, archival, coated velvet finish, 255 gsm, 15 mil. archival, natural white mouldmade, smooth textured watercolor fine art paper with an extremely smooth matte texture. Texturing can add a subliminal sense of tactile realism to an otherwise merely photographic image. The fine texture lends itself well to landscape photography where the texturing makes sand, fine hairs (peach fuzz), and plants seem more real. For portraiture the same texturing gives skin a more natural appearance (fashion magazines would have one think everyone has mannequin smooth skin). Finally the texture removes some of the coldness of glossy prints and creates an image more like a fine detail painting than a photograph. The more rigid paper and newly formulated inkjet receptive coating produces even better colors and details. The paper produces excellent results with both color and quadtone black pigment inksets. The choice of three weights lets the end-user decide the level of presentation quality from home and office (255 and 335gsm) to museum (500gsm). The look and feel of these papers convey a sense of professionalism and quality without having to actually say a word to the client/recipient. Velvet Smooth paper is available in sheet sizes from 4x6 to 17x22 including the popular photo sizes 8x10 and 11x14. It is also available in roll sizes up to 44 wide. The stiffness of all the Elite Velvet Smooth papers demands a straight through printing path on a printer such as the Epson 2200P. (Using the 335 or 500gsm in an inappropriate printer will most likely damage or possibly even destroy the print head.) |
