Robert Lawson
Robert Lawson began his career as a freelance artist for several magazines. His first notable book for children was THE STORY OF FERDINAND, a 1936 collaboration with Munro Leaf which is considered a classic in children's books. He won the Caldecott Medal in 1941 for THEY WERE STRONG AND GOOD and the Newbery Medal in 1945 for RABBIT HILL.
