|Fifteen hundred years ago during the time of King Arthur, Merlin made a pact with the dragons to save what was left of their race. Dragons were being methodically hunted and destroyed as evil and cruel creatures. In some cases that was exactly true: they were killing and eating farm animals, and furthermore, dragons were rounding up every jewel they could find. On the other hand, there were also the dragons of lore. They were pure of heart and true believers. The dragon hunters refused to see the difference and planned on eradicating the entire race....read the full review|

Raising Dragons made me love reading!9/25/2010
Raising Dragons was a great book! This is one of the books that got me to LOVE reading! Plus it talkes about how to live a Christian life. The whole story is so believable, it makes you feel right there aside the characters! I gave Raising Dragons to my friend to read, then maybe when i get it back i can give it to another, and hopefully be able to talk about what we have learned through these amazing books!
The Adventure Begins!9/17/2010
Raising Dragons is the first book in the Dragons In Our Midst series. This book started a long journey for me. Three years ago a friend lent me this exciting book, and I have been part of its adventure ever since. Raising Dragons is filled with an exhilarating plot line, taking you through the struggles of two individuals as their dragon heritage keeps them on the run. Billy Bannister and Bonnie Silver display the ever important lesson of sacrifice. Billy’s courage even through his doubts and Bonnie’s faith even amidst her life’s trials are inspiring! A beautiful masterpiece by Bryan Davis, this book opens a whole new world and has sent me on many quests of my own. I deeply encourage you to pick this book up, and begin the journey. You will not regret it!
Raising Dragons opens a door to a corner of our own world we always wondered about and fills it with surprises and danger. Billy Banister is a typical preteen boy with a unique problem—he breathes fire! When he discovers the truth behind his dad’s past, he is thrown into a world of danger, intrigue and excitement. The first of an eight-book set (Dragons in Our Midst and Oracles of Fire), Raising Dragons introduces you to characters you’ll never want to leave.
No Brain Choke Here!9/8/2008
This was the first Bryan Davis book I ever read, and one of the first Christian fantasy books I ever read (aside from the classics of Narnia and Lord of the Rings), so I was a little apprehensive about reading it to start with. The book did not disappoint, it wasn’t as heady as Lord of the Rings, so you can read through it quite easily, and yet it wasn’t as simple as the Narnia books, lots of information, but not too much that would make your brain choke. With lots of action, amazing storyline, and tons of surprises along the way, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy book.
I really enjoyed this fantasy novel. It took you through all of tme strating whith noah all the way to todays times.
The Perfect Staart8/29/2008
Raising Dragons is a book for all to read. Davis's average teenage boy is very easy to relate to, and the story is probably the most entertaining book I've read in a long time. It is awesome, kept me on the edge of my seat, and made me think...and laugh! Read it!!!!!
One of the best!!!!!8/29/2008
When Billy Bannister discovers that his father was a dragon, his world turns up-side down! Why hadn't his father told him about his life as a dragon? Why didn't he tell him of this hidden secret? Then Billy makes another discovery at his school. He meets a girl, Bonnie Silver, who, like Billy, had a parent who was once a dragon! Now, if that wasn't strange and confusing enough, Billy learns that his school principal is out to kill them all!!! Will Billy be able to keep his faith in God in all the trails he will soon have to face? And will they be captured by the principal? Only God knows!!! 'Raising Dragons' has helped me become more like Christ. It is one of my favorite books! Bryan Davis is one of my all-time-favorite authors! He is a Dad of seven homeschooled children and had had many books published for young adults. God bless you, Mr. Davis!
From thew very first chapter I knew this book was great. i had first picked up Eye of the Oracle and I was hungry for more Dragon Stories with a great message. This book was not a disappointer at all! The reader will feel like they are with Billy and Bonnie on all of their adventures and will love the great message about love, courage, and trust. As soon as his true heritage is revealed, he is soon running away from dark knights. He learns about faith, courage, and friendship. On the way he meets Bonnie Silver, a girl who seems to be hiding something. Will they evade the evil villains, who are eager to wipe out their race?
