After finding five (good) AA batteries each for the two we bought, we set the GTR on the floor. We figured it would be good enough, specially since we got two of them on sale, just to goof around with.
The Good: The little guys really scoot! They are - for the money - pretty responsive and fast. The GTR is built well enough, has great proportions and the headlights work going forward, and the taillights work going backwards*. Not exactly like real life, but fun anyway.
The Bad: We ordered two, which were billed as being frequency-switchable. We got two 27Mhz units, meaning we couldn't run them at the same time. There was no place to select another frequency and both car and controller were marked 27Mhz. We are awaiting a replacement.
If they are on sale, get 'em. Not worth it at $70 a pop, though.
*One of the rear taillights went out within the first ten minutes.
