Customer Reviews of RCA Wireless Powerline Network Phone Jack
This is a very useful product, easy to use and works great.
OK - but static...7/23/2012
Worked, but static on phone despite plugging into regular outlets - no surge protector, DSL issue in phone line, etc. Still trying to troubleshoot..... Overall not sure the static will allow a tolerable phone connection.
When "Network" does not mean "Network"4/2/2012
I ordered it because it was a "network" Powerline kit. Unfortuantely the ports are RJ-11 rather than RJ-45 so it will only work for a phone, not a PC, TV or any other network device that I need to connect to the internet. If it had had the RJ-45 ports, it would ALSO work for phones!
This is a relatively simple device, so they didn't describe it. I'll try here - this is a set of two devices. One device, the base, simply takes a single phone line (rj11), splits it, and sends it through the powerline. Then there's the other device that intercepts the powerline, and converts it to phone line. Now there's limitations. I tried it two houses down, and I couldn't get anywhere. It only supports one line. If you plug it into a surge protector you get noise. Etc.
I have used power line items in the past and had problems with line noise. This product has worked flawlessly since the day I installed it. Be sure and follow the instructions because the two devices have to "link up" in a certain order.
