||Kevin Smith directed the pilot episode of this wildly imaginative slacker comedy-cum-fantasy series. Bret Harrison stars as Sam Oliver, a twentysomething who dropped out of college because it "made him sleepy" and now spends his days working in a Home Depot-like warehouse store, chilling with his best bud Bert "Sock" Wysocki and harboring a big-time crush on his beautiful co-worker Andi. But when Satan (Ray Wise) comes around claiming ownership of Sam, Sam's parents have some explaining to do. It seems that, in a desperate attempt to cure himself of a nasty illness he suffered from years ago, dad made a pact with the Devil to relinquish his firstborn, planning to dupe the horned one by never fathering a child. Satan had the last laugh, though, when he promised to absolve Sam's father's doctor of his gambling debts if the quack assured the Olivers that they weren't capable of having a baby. Now Sam is a Reaper, a bounty hunter of sorts tasked with retrieving souls that have escaped from eternal damnation and capturing them in vessels forged in the depths Hell to resemble ordinary objects such as vacuum cleaners and Zippo lighters. Sam discovers he has two great friends when Sock, who's braver than he looks, and Andi, who just might like Sam back, happily assist their overwhelmed buddy with his new Reaper duties. With smarts, energy, and vivid originality, REAPER is a supernatural comedy to behold. Included here are all 18 episodes of season one.
