This could be my favorite book of all time. I "borrowed" it from a friend over 10 years ago, and it eventually broke into 3 parts (I've read it probably more than 50 times,no joke), and I lost a couple pages, so I had to buy one for myself. I love all of Tom Clancy's books (except for SSN, which was horrid, but that's another review...) for their realism, factual accuracy and believability. The characters are compelling and you find yourself identifying with them. If you are a fan of Tom Clancy's work, I highly recommend this book. If you're a fan of military fiction, the Cold War, or recent histoy, I highly recommend this book. You won't be sorry Read More

Author Info
Tom Clancy
An insurance executive well into his late 30s, Tom Clancy first hit fame and fortune with the spy thriller "The Hunt for Red October", the sales of which soared when President Ronald Reagan called it a personal favorite. Though Clancy was never a military man himself, due to poor eyesight, he closely studied declassified military documents and used the technical information he gleaned from them to write his best-selling thrillers. Most of Clancy's novels feature ex-marine Jack Ryan, an intelligence analyst working with the CIA. Often the reluctant hero, Ryan battles foes such as international terrorists and powerful drug lords, often finding himself deeply immersed in the high-stakes world of espionage.
From the Publisher
Annotation When their country's oil supply runs short, Soviet officials decide to tap into the Persian Gulf's ample reserves. But first, NATO must be neutralized. So begins Operation Red Storm, which just might trigger a third world war.
Editors Note From the author of The Hunt For Red October, a New York Times bestseller for over 40 weeks, comes his greatest performance yet. Red Storm Rising is an alarmingly authentic portrait of escalating aggression between superpowers on all fronts--land, sea, air and space.
Editors Note 2 When Moslem fundamentalists destroy a key Soviet oil complex, the Russians initiate a plan of diplomatic trickery for their seizure of Persian Gulf oil
