Ripe (1996)

Editor's Note After surviving a car crash that kills both their parents, two teen girls, embittered by years of abuse, walk happily away from the wreckage and into what they hope will be a life of adventure together--with "no boys." But before you can say "coming of age," the sisters take refuge at a nearby Army base, where one learns the ways of love from a civilian groundskeeper and the other learns the ways of killing from a soldier. A disturbing and offbeat independent feature from first-time writer-director Ogrodnik, unrated during its festival run and limited theatrical release.
