Annotation:
A new collection of Robin Hood ballads, which became known as "the Forresters Manuscript" was unveiled at a 1993 auction. Stephen Knight's volume contains all 21 ballads from the manuscript collection, which is thought to be from around 1670. These ballads were probably sung or read by minstrels beginning in the late 15th century. Notes on the text, a glossary, and comments on the handwriting style are included.

"It can hardly be called a good read [poor verse compared to contemporaries Shakespeare, Milton, and others] but for those with a special interest in Robin Hood, it is an intriguing volume." - J.C. Holt 04/24/1998
