poignant, artistic and melancholy
Great storytelling, nicely illustrated substantial effort by all involved. i leafed through this book at a Borders before x-mas and enjoyed the whimsical and intelligent portrayal of dog and robot amongst other creatures in this fantastically yet simply illustrated graphic novel. i purchased Robot Dreams for my 10 yr old son who loves robots and would enjoy seeing them do everyday things humans do as depicted in this book. befriending a robot is probably a fantasy for my son since he draws them in his spare time (no analysis needed, i believe i am a good father). however, the ending of the novel was more melancholy than my son and i expected so he was deeply dissappointed. i ended up using it as a life lesson in making sure you don't lose sight of the things that you hold near and dear. maybe the movie will grant us the "hollywood" ending.
